I talk with my clients all the time about their own inner blocks, the stories, beliefs, and patterns that might be holding them back from making progress towards their goals or dreams. Sometimes we know they’re there. Often, we don’t.

This Fall, I have been reflecting on my own seasons of growth. Once upon a time, I was a clinical pharmacist, helping people through medicine. After 20 years of service in healthcare, I felt called to inspire people from a new perspective.

Healthy boundaries require us to make conscious choices that hold our space and may make others uncomfortable. They challenge old patterns and test our relationship dynamics with others. Sometimes, standing firm in what we need helps us to create respect and inner peace for ourselves and those around us.

Each month, I share stories and lessons from my coaching conversations about helping clients who feel stuck, want clarity, or are ready to step into their fullest expression of life. My hope is always that by sharing these reflections, you may receive fresh perspectives that resonate with you also.

I get asked this question a lot in my work as a Life and Executive Coach, and I have answers. Not one answer, but many different strategies and tools to help recenter ourselves when we feel the pull of the energy of everything around us.

We only become the person ready to do the big thing by doing the thing. The more we do the new thing, the less scary it becomes. The feeling of fear and anxiety begins to feel like a normal part of the process, because it is.

I LOVE summer—I love it because June is my birthday month! I love it because the days are longer and the sun shines bright in the sky (which does not happen in Michigan much during the other seasons).  I love it because there is time to be outside and in nature, to wear lighter clothes, and have a break from all of the schedules that guide my life during the school year.

As a professional Life and Leadership coach, I often hold space for people moving through life transitions such as new roles, changing relationships, and careers. But this past weekend, I found myself in that tender in-between space too as I watched my daughter, my middle child, graduate from college.

Are you feeling the urge to put on your shoes, organize a junk drawer, plant flowers, take a walk outside, enjoy the weather, and plan fun things to do with loved ones or by yourself?

With Valentine’s Day coming up, and the marketing engines in full swing with red and pink hearts everywhere, Whitney Houston’s song Greatest Love of All keeps playing in my mind.  

Wow! The devastation in LA has really hit us all at our core. It reminds us how quickly life as we know it can change from one day to the next! This is an opportunity to pause and take stock of our lives and listen to our inner voice to determine what is really important in life.

Regardless of whether it has been a year filled with possibilities or difficulties, time passes.  While we cannot control the passage, we can choose how we spend it.

How is everyone feeling this month of December?  Are you looking forward to the holiday season and excited about the colder weather to participate in winter activities outdoors?  

Whether we have positive connections to the holiday or it causes us to be triggered by experiences or memories that create anxious feelings-honor all the feelings. What if we could be more curious about why we feel the way we do?

Do you currently have tasks on your ‘to-do’ lists that you know you must accomplish but simply don't feel like doing? Often, these items get carried from one week to the next because we choose to focus on the ‘want to’ activities instead.

I talk a lot about manifesting because I have seen it work for me and my clients and I'm always pleasantly delighted when it does! Can I share a story about what I have been manifesting for more than a year?

On this holiday, we are all invited to playfully choose to become something different than we typically show up in our daily lives. We can wear masks and costumes to be something or somebody who is sillier, scarier or more confident than we perceive ourselves to be. Its a fun opportunity to hide who we really are and be who we want to be for the moment.

I ask one thing of my clients—”Trust the Process.” This request can be challenging because when people reach out to me, they are ready to make changes in their lives and would love for it to be quick and easy. We are an impatient culture.

I’d like to introduce you to my client, Beth (name changed for privacy), a 25-year-old woman who, like many in their mid-twenties, is navigating the complexities of early adulthood. She felt stuck in a cycle of uncertainty and indecision, She was also feeling overwhelmed by the countless choices and expectations before her.

There are plenty of completely understandable and rational reasons why I woke up feeling the way I did, AND I was fully aware that I hold the power to either accept the exhaustion, or choose to shift it with a few intentional actions.
