What Does This Time of Year Bring Up for You?

I happen to be a big fan of Thanksgiving. With family living all over the country, we have always made this holiday a priority to come together in one place. It’s less about the food and more about the company. We have a tradition to go around the table and share what we feel grateful for each year. It’s an opportunity to hear which blessings each of us choose to reflect on, even though we all experience struggles throughout the year as well.
Whether we have positive connections to the holiday or it causes us to be triggered by experiences or memories that create anxious feelings-honor all the feelings.
What if we could be more curious about why we feel the way we do?
When we can honestly acknowledge and accept whatever it is that this holiday (or any day for that matter) brings up, we can make a conscious choice of how we want to move forward in the future without the judgement around it.
Whether we choose to be alone or with others—consider using Thanksgiving as a time to reflect and express gratitude for the small things in your life. It is an opportunity to connect and strengthen bonds with friends and family and with yourself….
The hardest part about Thanksgiving for me is the weather pattern that comes with it. I am not a huge fan of the dark and cold winter months so I try to shift my energy by preparing myself for the calmness and coziness of the upcoming winter months.
Wishing you all a beautiful holiday weekend however you choose to spend it!
