Putting Things in Perspective..

Wow! The devastation in LA has really hit us all at our core.

It reminds us how quickly life as we know it can change from one day to the next!

This is an opportunity to pause and take stock of our lives and listen to our inner voice to determine what is really important in life.

A friend of mine packed up a car with her kids and her dog and had to look around and decide what to take with them if their house disappears in these fires.  How about the people whose house did disappear in the fires? Everything they have and have accumulated in their lives is gone, unsalvageable, financially, emotionally and physically devastating.

At the end of the day, all we have is who we are, and the relationships we have created.

Undoubtedly, there will be a long grievance phase followed by feelings of anger and despair. Eventually, they will hopefully find a way forward and begin to recover.  Will the victims of these disasters rebuild their homes and lives and carry on as if nothing had occurred, or will they have a fresh perspective on what they have lost and accumulated and reevaluate their actual priorities?

Devastations like this can have profound impact on each of the individuals affected in different ways.  We can all learn from them and their losses and make conscious choices on what we want to prioritize in our brief, but hopefully meaningful, lives.

It’s interesting that last month, I wrote about “Setting Intentions for 2025.”— Does something like this, change what your intentions are, or does it solidify that sticking to your intention will create a more meaningful experience in our short stay in this world?

I’d love to hear your thoughts—please  share your takeaways from this current situation affecting so many people.
